is responsible for the overall supervision and control of all store activities including the receipt, storage, issue, and accounting of raw materials, consumables, spares, tools, and finished goods. The role ensures proper material management, stock accuracy, and smooth coordination between departments to support uninterrupted production and dispatch.
Key Responsibilities:1. Material Receipt & Inspection
Supervise
inward receipt of materials
, verify quantity and specifications against purchase orders.
Coordinate with the quality department for
incoming inspection and approval
.
Ensure proper tagging, labeling, and storage of accepted materials.
2. Storage & Handling
Organize and maintain
systematic storage
of raw materials, consumables, patterns, spares, and finished goods.
Implement
FIFO / LIFO
as applicable and ensure material traceability.
Maintain
safe handling practices
to prevent damage, loss, or mix-up of materials.
3. Material Issue & Control
Issue materials to production and maintenance teams as per requisition.
Maintain
real-time stock records
in ERP / JobBoss / Tally / SAP.
Monitor minimum and reorder levels to avoid stock-outs.
Record and control
returnable, rejected, and scrap materials
.
4. Inventory Management
Conduct
daily, monthly, and annual physical stock verifications
.
Reconcile physical and system stock; report discrepancies promptly.
Analyze slow-moving, non-moving, and obsolete items for management review.
Support
cost control initiatives
through optimized inventory levels.
5. Dispatch & Logistics Coordination
Coordinate
finished goods dispatch
with the production and marketing teams.
Ensure proper
packing, labeling, documentation
, and coordination with transporters.
Maintain records of delivery challans, invoices, and gate passes.
6. Documentation & Compliance
Maintain accurate and updated records for all materials in the store.
Ensure compliance with internal and external audits.
Implement
5S, safety, and housekeeping standards
in the store area.
Support statutory documentation (weighment slips, material registers, etc.).
Qualifications & Skills:
Diploma / B.E. in Mechanical, Production, or Industrial Engineering (or Graduate with material management experience).
3-5 years of experience in
store / inventory management
in a manufacturing or foundry environment.
Strong knowledge of
inventory control, ERP systems, and documentation
.
Familiarity with
material classification
- raw materials, consumables, spares, tools, and castings.
Good leadership, coordination, and communication skills.
Proficiency in MS Excel, ERP / JobBoss / Tally / SAP systems.
