The Stores Assistant at Indo Amines Limited, Dombivli MIDC Phase 1 will be responsible for managing and maintaining efficient inventory operations for raw materials, finished products, packaging materials, chemicals, and spare parts in the chemical manufacturing environment. The role involves supporting daily warehouse operations, ensuring accurate inventory records through ERP systems, and maintaining compliance with safety and quality standards in a specialty chemicals facility.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management:
Receive, inspect, and document incoming materials including raw chemicals, fatty amines, surfactants, packaging materials, and engineering spare parts
Maintain accurate stock records in ERP system with real-time updates of receipts, issues, and transfers
Conduct regular physical stock verification, cycle counts, and reconcile discrepancies between system and physical inventory
Implement FIFO (First In, First Out) principles for chemical inventory to prevent expiration and ensure product quality
Monitor minimum stock levels and generate purchase requisitions when inventory reaches reorder points
Material Handling and Storage:
Arrange and store materials systematically by category, location codes, and batch numbers in designated warehouse areas
Handle drums, IBCs (Intermediate Bulk Containers), and chemical packaging safely according to safety protocols
Load and unload materials from trucks, ensuring proper handling of hazardous chemicals and specialty products
Maintain proper segregation of incompatible chemicals and ensure environmental storage conditions (temperature, humidity control)
Use material handling equipment including forklifts and hand trucks for moving inventory items
Documentation and Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate goods receipt registers, bin cards, and store ledgers for all incoming and outgoing materials
Process material issue requests against authorized requisitions from production, quality control, and maintenance departments
Generate and maintain delivery challans, goods receipt notes (GRN), and transfer documents
Ensure proper documentation flow to accounts, production planning, and other concerned departments
Create and update material master data and inventory codes in SAP system
Quality Control and Compliance:
Inspect incoming materials for quality, quantity, and compliance with purchase specifications
Coordinate with Quality Control department for material testing and clearance before storage
Report damaged, expired, or non-conforming materials and coordinate disposal procedures
Maintain cleanliness and organization of storage areas as per ISO standards and GMP requirements
Ensure compliance with chemical safety regulations and environmental standards
Coordination and Communication:
Coordinate with production departments to ensure timely material availability for manufacturing operations
Liaise with purchase department for vendor coordination and material procurement planning
Communicate with logistics team for inbound and outbound material movements
Support internal and external audits by providing accurate inventory records and documentation
Assist in month-end inventory closing processes and stock valuation activities
Essential Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Science, or Engineering preferred
Diploma in Chemical Engineering, Materials Management, or related field acceptable
Knowledge of chemical industry operations and material handling practices
Experience:
2-4 years of experience in stores/warehouse operations, preferably in chemical manufacturing industry
Experience with inventory management in process industries handling raw materials, chemicals, and finished goods
Prior exposure to ERP modules (MM - Materials Management, WM - Warehouse Management) preferred
