Job Description

A Storeman (or Storeperson) manages goods in a warehouse, handling receiving, storing, and dispatching items, involving tasks like unloading deliveries, stocktaking, organizing shelves, picking orders, operating forklifts, updating inventory records, and maintaining a clean, safe environment, often requiring physical fitness, attention to detail, and basic computer skills, with forklift licenses often essential. Key Responsibilities

Receiving & Unloading:

Accepting deliveries, checking against orders, and unloading vehicles (trucks, lorries).

Stock Management:

Organizing, labeling, and putting away stock in designated locations; performing regular stocktakes and managing inventory levels.

Order Fulfillment:

Picking, packing, and preparing goods for dispatch or collection, often using order pickers or other machinery. Warehouse Operations:Operating forklifts, pallet trucks, and other handling equipment; keeping the store clean, tidy, and safe. Documentation:Processing paperwork, updating stock systems, and reporting discrepancies or low stock. Production Support:Issuing materials and components to the shop floor for manufacturing.
