To manage the overall operations of the supermarket, ensuring excellent customer service, optimal staff performance, proper inventory control, and achievement of sales and operational targets.
Key Responsibilities1. Store Operations & Standards
Ensure the supermarket is clean, well-organized, and fully compliant with hygiene and safety standards.
Oversee day-to-day operations including opening/closing, housekeeping, billing, and customer service flow.
Monitor product availability, shelf display, and FIFO (First In, First Out) practices.
Ensure pricing, barcodes, and promotional displays are accurate and up to date.
Coordinate with the HO team for offers, merchandising, and operational updates.
2. Sales Performance
Achieve monthly sales targets and monitor daily performance.
Track fast-moving and slow-moving items and take action to improve sales.
Implement upselling and cross-selling initiatives among staff.
Analyze footfall and drive customer engagement initiatives.
3. Customer Service
Ensure timely resolution of customer complaints and maintain high service standards.
Monitor queues at billing counters and ensure smooth customer flow.
Maintain store ambience, cleanliness, and staff grooming to enhance customer experience.
4. Staff Management
Supervise and manage staff including CREs, cashiers, stayboys, packers, housekeeping, and security.
Prepare duty rosters to ensure adequate manpower and avoid excess or shortage.
Conduct daily briefings, grooming checks, and on-the-job training.
Handle attendance, discipline, and basic performance evaluations.
5. Inventory Control & Shrinkage
Oversee GRN (Goods Receipt Note), stock loading, and replenishment.
Monitor expiry, near-expiry, damages, and ensure timely return or disposal.
Conduct weekly and monthly stock audits and variance analysis.
Implement strict checks to control pilferage and reduce shrinkage.
6. Cash & Billing Management
Ensure all billing counters operate efficiently with minimal downtime.
Verify cash deposits, shift-wise cash handover, and maintain accuracy in cash reports.
Ensure no unauthorized discounts or manual billing is done.
7. Reporting & Compliance
Submit daily sales reports, staff attendance, stock summaries, and MIS reports to HO.
Ensure statutory compliance related to food safety, fire safety, and labor regulations.
Maintain updated store documents, checklists, and audit records.
Skills & Qualifications
Minimum 7-15 years of supermarket/store operations experience.
Strong leadership and people management skills.
Excellent communication and customer handling skills.
Knowledge of inventory, retail SOPs, billing, and stock management.
Proficiency in basic computer applications (Excel, billing software, email).
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle operational challenges.
