The Store Manager is responsible for managing the entire stores function of the factory, including inventory control, material receipt, storage, and timely issuance to production. The role ensures smooth operations by maintaining accurate records, minimizing wastage, and coordinating with purchase, accounts, and production departments.
Key Responsibilities
1. Inventory Management
Maintain optimum stock levels of raw materials, consumables, spares, and finished goods.
Conduct periodic stock verification and reconcile discrepancies.
Implement FIFO/FEFO methods and ensure proper material handling to avoid damage or pilferage.
2. Material Receipt & Issue
Supervise unloading, inspection, and storage of incoming materials.
Verify GRN (Goods Receipt Note), challans, and invoices against purchase orders.
Ensure timely issuance of materials to production based on requisitions.
3. Documentation & Compliance
Maintain accurate records of receipts, issues, returns, and stock balances in ERP/manual registers.
Coordinate with accounts for stock valuation and audit requirements.
Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and statutory norms.
4. Coordination & Communication
Liaise with procurement for replenishment of materials and suppliers for timely delivery.
Work closely with production to ensure uninterrupted material flow.
Provide regular MIS reports on stock movement, slow-moving items, and shortages.
5. Team & Process Management
Supervise store staff and allocate responsibilities effectively.
Train and guide team members in storekeeping procedures.
Drive process improvements for better efficiency and cost savings.
Qualifications & Skills
Graduate/Diploma in Supply Chain Management / Logistics / Commerce (preferred).
5-10 years of experience in store management, preferably in a manufacturing/industrial setup.
Strong knowledge of inventory control, warehouse practices, and ERP systems.
Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure with strong problem-solving aptitude.
