An assistant store manager has many roles and responsibilities, including:
Leadership: Inspire and motivate the team, provide training and guidance, and address underperformance
Customer service: Serve customers as needed, deal with complaints, and monitor customer service
Inventory control: Manage inventory control, meet or exceed inventory goals, and monitor the availability of stock
Problem solving: Work through solutions to challenges and identify ways to resolve issues and complaints
Communication: Communicate with the front of house team and keep the whole establishment running smoothly
Scheduling: Put together the rotas and shifts
Training: Recruit and train staff
Cash handling: Enforce company cash handling and other Loss Prevention policies and procedures
Opening and closing: Open and close the store and deposit cash into the safe or the bank
