Job Summary: We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Stores Manager to take full responsibility for managing the entire inventory and store operations, specifically catering to the rigorous demands of the aerospace and defense sectors. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience and will ensure the accuracy, organization, and traceability of all materials. A critical function of this role is the accurate and efficient kitting of complex materials based on provided Bills of Materials (BOMs) to support production schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
Inventory Management: Oversee and manage all aspects of the company's inventory, proper storage conditions, and effective space utilization for both raw materials and finished goods.
Inwards Goods Inspection: Supervise the process of receiving incoming materials. Perform simple initial goods inwards checks, verifying counts against packing slips and identifying any visible transit damage or discrepancies before materials are moved to stock.
Material Kitting (Critical Function): Take primary responsibility for accurately kitting materials for production orders based on complex Bills of Materials (BOMs). This involves precision picking, counting, and organizing components (including specialized aerospace/defense connectors, wires, and RF components) to minimize production delays.
Stock Control & Audits: Conduct regular cycle counts and full physical inventory audits to ensure the highest level of stock accuracy. Investigate and resolve all discrepancies promptly.
Traceability & Documentation: Ensure strict adherence to aerospace and defense requirements for material traceability. Maintain meticulous records of all transactions (inwards, outwards, kitting, and returns) in the ERP/inventory management system. Store all CoCs and other documentation meticulously
Storage and Handling: Implement and maintain best practices for material handling, ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) control, and shelf-life management, particularly for sensitive aerospace components.
Team Leadership: Lead and train a team of 2-4 stores people, setting clear performance objectives and maintaining a high standard of work.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Experience: A minimum of 10 years of demonstrable experience in managing inventory and store operations, specifically within the Aerospace and Defense manufacturing industry.
Technical Proficiency: o Expertise in Material Kitting: Proven ability to accurately read, interpret, and execute material picking based on complex, multi-level Bills of Materials (BOMs) o Strong working knowledge of inventory control systems (e.g., ERP/MRP systems) o Familiarity with the types of high-value components used in defense/aerospace manufacturing (e.g., MIL-SPEC connectors, specialized cables, electronic components).
Compliance Knowledge: Understanding of the quality and traceability requirements (e.g., AS9100 or similar defense standards) related to materials management.
Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy is non-negotiable for this role.
Leadership: Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Physical Requirements: Ability to handle and move materials as required in a store environment.
