The Store Keeper is responsible for the efficient management of hospital inventory, including medical supplies, surgical items, equipment, linen, housekeeping materials, and other consumables. The role ensures timely availability of required stock, proper storage, accurate record-keeping, and strict adherence to hospital policies and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities :
1.Inventory Management :
Receive, store, and issue medical supplies, equipment, and consumables as per hospital requirements. Maintain adequate stock levels to prevent shortages. Ensure materials are stored in proper conditions (temperature, sterility, safety).
2. Documentation & Record Keeping:
Maintain up-to-date stock registers, GRNs (Goods Receipt Notes), and issue records. Enter stock transactions in the hospital inventory management system/software.Conduct regular stock audits and report discrepancies.
3.Procurement Support:
Coordinate with the purchase department for replenishment of stock. Verify delivery challans, invoices, and supplier documents before acceptance. Assist in vendor follow-ups for timely delivery.
4. Quality & Compliance:
Check received goods for quality, expiry dates, batch numbers, and damage. Ensure FIFO (First In, First Out) and FEFO (First Expiry, First Out) methods for inventory issue. Adhere to hospital policies, NABH standards, and statutory compliance for medical supplies.
5. Coordination: Issue materials to nursing stations, operation theatres, and other departments as per indents. Work closely with nursing, pharmacy, purchase, and finance teams. Provide monthly stock reports to management.
