Job Summary:
The Store Incharge is responsible for managing the inventory of raw materials (like chrome ore, manganese, reductants), consumables, spares, and finished ferro alloy products. This role ensures accurate stock records, material traceability, safe handling practices, and timely issuance of materials to production, aligning with operational needs and safety standards specific to the ferro alloy industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the receipt, storage, issuance, and dispatch of materials including raw ores, reductants, electrodes, and ferro alloys.
Maintain accurate stock records using ERP/Tally and ensure timely data entry for material movement.
Coordinate with production, purchase, and quality departments for daily material requirements.
Ensure FIFO/LIFO methods are followed for high-value and perishable inventory.
Conduct regular physical verification of stock and reconcile with system records; report shortages, excess, or damage.
Monitor material quality and coordinate with the QC team during receipt and before issuing.
Supervise unloading and stacking of heavy materials in compliance with safety and EHS protocols.
Maintain proper documentation including GRN, material issue slips, gate passes, and MSDS where applicable.
Ensure safe storage and handling of hazardous and flammable materials as per factory norms.
Monitor slow-moving and non-moving inventory; suggest disposal or reallocation.
Prepare and submit daily/weekly/monthly inventory reports to management.
Key Requirements:
Graduate/Diploma in Materials Management, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
Minimum 10 years of experience in store/inventory handling in a
ferro alloy, steel, or heavy industry setup.
Familiar with handling bulk raw materials (ore, coal, reductants), spares, and heavy equipment.
Proficient in ERP systems (
SAP
, Oracle, or Tally ERP 9) and MS Excel.
Knowledge of industry-specific safety and hazardous material handling protocols.
Strong documentation and record-keeping skills.
Preferred Attributes:
Certification in Materials or Inventory Management (e.g., CPIM, CSCP).
Familiarity with ISO 9001, 14001, and OHSAS 18001 compliance.
Experience with crane and forklift coordination for material movement.
