Job Description

The Store In-Charge is responsible for managing the end-to-end operations of the engineering stores, including inward/outward materials, inventory control, documentation, and coordination with procurement, production, service, and finance. The role ensures

100% accuracy, timely availability of materials, proper storage, safety, and smooth flow of operations

for engineering components, spare parts, lubricators, consumables, and tools.

Key Responsibilities1. Inventory Management

Maintain

accurate stock levels

of engineering materials, spare parts, tools, consumables, lubricators, and electrical/mechanical items. Perform

regular stock audits

, cycle counts, and reconciliation with ERP/Tally. Implement

minimum/maximum stock levels

, reorder points, and safety stock. Identify

slow-moving, fast-moving, and dead stock

and report for action. Ensure

FIFO / FEFO

methods for material movement.

2. Inward Materials Handling

Receive materials as per

Purchase Orders

and check quantity, quality, and specifications. Coordinate with QC / technical team for inspections. Prepare

GRN (Goods Receipt Note)

and update ERP/Tally. Ensure proper labeling, binning, and storage with traceability.

3. Outward Materials Handling

Issue materials to

production, service team, installation team, and sales dispatch

as per approved requisitions. Pack and dispatch materials for customer orders with correct documentation. Maintain dispatch records such as

Delivery Challans, E-way bills, packing lists

, etc.

4. Documentation & ERP Management

Maintain and update all records in

ERP/Tally/Inventory Software

. Track inward/outward entries, GRNs, stock registers, material issue slips, return slips, etc. Prepare monthly inventory reports for management.

5. Space & Store Layout Management

Plan and maintain a

systematic store layout

for quick access and safety. Ensure materials are stored in proper racks, bins, pallets, and labeled properly. Maintain housekeeping and 5S standards in the store.

6. Coordination

Coordinate closely with the

Procurement, Production, Service, Accounts, and Dispatch

teams. Share stock status and shortages with the purchase team. Assist service engineers by arranging tools, consumables, and materials for site jobs.

7. Safety & Compliance

Ensure compliance with

safety standards

, MSDS guidelines for chemicals, and PPE usage. Maintain fire safety, stacking guidelines, and safe material handling. Track warranty/expiry/critical parts and maintain secure storage of high-value items.

Skills & Competencies

Strong knowledge of

engineering spares

, mechanical/electrical parts, tools, and consumables. Proficiency in

ERP/Inventory Management Software

and Tally. Good understanding of

GRN, stock ledgers, and dispatch documentation

. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to handle vendors, logistics, and internal teams. Knowledge of 5S, lean stores, FIFO/FEFO, and basic material handling safety.

Experience Required

3-8 years

experience in stores/inventory management in an

engineering, manufacturing, EPC, or industrial supply company

. Experience handling

electrical/mechanical spare parts, lubricators, bearings, motors, panels, consumables

, etc. Experience with inventory systems like

Tally, ERPNext, Zoho Inventory, SAP B1

, etc.

Qualification

Diploma / ITI in Mechanical/Electrical / B.Com / BBA / BE Certification in

Stores/Inventory Management

is a plus.
