The Steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and order in the kitchen and service areas. Ensures all kitchen utensils, dishes, cutlery, and equipment are properly cleaned, sanitized, and stored. Supports chefs and service staff by providing a clean and safe working environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Clean, wash, and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, pots, pans, dishes, glasses, and cutlery.
Ensure proper garbage disposal and waste segregation as per hotel standards.
Maintain cleanliness of kitchen floors, walls, and workstations.
Handle dishwashing machines and other cleaning equipment safely and correctly.
Ensure proper storage of kitchen equipment and utensils after cleaning.
Assist chefs and cooks in food preparation when required.
Follow safety and hygiene standards (HACCP / Food Safety norms).
Ensure chemical usage is correct and report any shortage of cleaning supplies.
Support in inventory of stewarding items (plates, cutlery, etc.).
Report maintenance issues to the supervisor.
Maintain personal hygiene and grooming as per hotel standards.
Key Skills & Competencies:
Basic knowledge of hygiene and sanitation.
Ability to work in a team and handle physical tasks.
Attention to detail and discipline.
Flexibility to work in shifts, weekends,
Qualification & Experience:
Minimum 10th / 12th pass (or equivalent).
Previous experience in stewarding/kitchen operations preferred (not mandatory).
Freshers with willingness to learn are also considered.
