The Steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen and dining areas. This includes cleaning dishes, utensils, and equipment; supporting the kitchen team with basic tasks; and ensuring that all sanitation standards are met to support smooth restaurant operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Clean and sanitize dishes, glassware, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, storage, and dishwashing areas.
Ensure proper waste segregation and disposal.
Assist in receiving and storing kitchen supplies and deliveries.
Follow safety, hygiene, and sanitation procedures at all times.
Report any maintenance or equipment issues to supervisors.
Support chefs and service staff during peak hours.
Maintain organization of cleaning materials and equipment.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Prior experience in stewarding or cleaning roles (restaurant/hotel) is an advantage.
Knowledge of hygiene and food safety standards.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure and as part of a team.
Physically fit to handle lifting and standing for long periods.
Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.
