About the Role
Good Shepherd International School invites applications for an experienced and passionate Design Technology & STEM Teacher to join our innovative academic team. This role integrates product design, engineering concepts, digital fabrication, and STEM education to deliver hands-on, inquiry-driven, and future-focused learning experiences for students.
The ideal candidate will bring strong interdisciplinary expertise, combining design thinking, engineering principles, and STEM pedagogy to inspire creativity, innovation, and real-world problem-solving.
Minimum Qualification Required
Engineering / Technology / Design Background:
B.E / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering / Mechanical Production Engineering / Electronics Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Computer Science / Electronics & Communication Engineering
OR
B.Des in Industrial Design / Product Design / Graphic Design
OR
B.Sc in Computer Science / Computer Applications
OR
Any other equivalent professional degree in Design, Engineering, Technology, or related STEM fields
Core Competencies & Subject Knowledge
Product Design & Design Thinking
Strong understanding of the design process (Design Cycle / Design Thinking) including research, ideation, prototyping, evaluation, and iterative improvement
Ability to implement design concepts effectively in teaching and learning
Expertise in critical thinking, creativity, innovation, and problem-solving in product development
Graphic Products & Digital Design
Proficiency in visual communication and sketching (creative & technical drawing / engineering graphics)
Experience with digital design software (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.)
Proficiency in CAD modelling (2D & 3D - SketchUp, Fusion 360, Blender, or similar)
Understanding of branding and visual identity principles
Resistant Materials & Fabrication
Knowledge of materials (wood, metals, plastics, composites) and their properties
Hands-on experience with creative modelling using paper, card, cardboard, styrofoam, wood, metals, and plastics
Expertise in woodworking, metalworking, and plastic fabrication techniques
Systems, Controls & Engineering Concepts
Understanding of mechanical systems, electronics, automation, and control mechanisms
Knowledge of engineering design processes and applied engineering problem-solving
Manufacturing & Prototyping
Experience with prototyping tools and machinery including:
3D Printing
Laser Cutting & Engraving
Vacuum Forming
CNC machining (preferred)
Strong workshop safety, planning, and quality management skills
STEM Knowledge Integration
Sound understanding of:
Science (Physics, basic Chemistry, Environmental Science, etc.)
Technology (programming basics, digital tools, educational software)
Engineering (design processes, mechanical & electrical fundamentals)
Mathematics (applied maths, data handling, basic statistics)
Ability to create interdisciplinary STEM connections for real-world problem-solving
Sustainability & Innovation
Awareness of sustainable design practices and environmental impact of materials
Knowledge of emerging trends in design, engineering, and educational technology
Teaching & Pedagogical Skills
Expertise in project-based learning, design thinking, inquiry-based learning, and hands-on prototyping
Strong understanding of formative, summative, portfolio-based, and performance-based assessment
Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners
Effective classroom and workshop management with a focus on safety and creativity
Experience in curriculum planning aligned to IGCSE and IB MYP frameworks
Proficiency in integrating CAD tools, digital fabrication, coding platforms, and interactive technologies
Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with industry and educational trends
Experience Required
Minimum 5+ years of teaching experience in Design Technology and/or STEM integration
