Job Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable STEM Alt Text Writer to develop clear, concise, and accurate descriptions for educational content in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in STEM subjects and experience in writing alt text for visually impaired learners, ensuring that all graphical content is accessible.

Key Responsibilities:

Analyze STEM content (graphs, charts, diagrams, equations) and write precise and descriptive alt text. Ensure alt text is accurate, context-specific, and aligns with instructional content. Maintain consistency in style, tone, and terminology. Collaborate with content developers, subject matter experts, and editors to refine descriptions. Meet deadlines and maintain a high standard of quality in all deliverables.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in a STEM field or related discipline. Proven experience in writing alt text, preferably for educational content. Strong understanding of STEM concepts and ability to convey complex information clearly. Excellent written communication skills. Attention to detail and ability to adhere to guidelines. Familiarity with WCAG 2.1 and accessibility standards is a plus.
