We have built the Enterprise Payments team from the ground up to help lead Toast's journey of expanding into Enterprise customers (such as Marriott) on a global scale. This team fuels Toast's growth by developing and supporting a strong payments foundation.
As a Staff Software Engineer on this team, you will have the opportunity to build, innovate, and scale the next generation of our software solutions with a global-first mindset. You'll work closely with PMs, SEs, QA, UX, and customers to deliver solutions that maximize value while aligning with diverse markets and ecosystems.
About this roll* (Responsibilities)

• Design, build, deploy, and maintain highly resilient and scalable features across Toast's Enterprise line-of-products.
• Lead complex projects that may span multiple teams & systems.
• Collaborate with PM, UX & QA, and other engineers, on the development of new features & products.
• Partner with a wide array of teams across Toast.
• Drive high-quality team output and ensure that the team makes solid technical decisions.
• Collaborate with peer engineers, provide design feedback, and participate in code reviews.
• Champion best practices for SDLC & CICD life-cycles.
• Ensure quality by building automated testing for changes.
• Roll* features out to customers, ensuring successful delivery and operation, including monitoring for success and/or failures.
• Lead, mentor, and coach engineers on industry-standard development best practices.

Do you have the right ingredients*? (Requirements)

• 9+ years of hands-on experience delivering high-quality, reliable & scalable services and software systems using contemporary object-oriented languages.
• Familiar with traditional databases and alternative data stores, with a strong understanding of distributed datastores and knowledge of when to use what.
• Have strong understanding of fault-tolerant, highly-scalable & secure distributed systems.
• Awareness of MVVM architecture style & Reactive Programming.
• Passionate about building great software products.
• You demonstrate humility, empathy and respectfulness.
• Proficiency in SDLC best practices.
• Proficiency in testing android applications & delivering high-quality, reliable apps to production.
• Ensure data integrity, quality, and consistency.
• Excellent cross-team communication skills on complex technical topics.
• Experience working with Cloud Infrastructure (AWS or similar).

• Awareness of Android development frameworks (in Kotlin or Java).
