Primary Duties and Responsibilities Helps the team get better technically,mentorsjunior associates, and keeps customer success in focus, in particular: . Is responsible for designing, developing, and testing new algorithms, models, or solving approaches based on machine learning, operation research, or other techniques to solve a Blue Yonder business problem with little or no supervision. . Develops prototypes and proofs of principles for innovative features. . Integrates new models and algorithms into a product solution. . Mentors team with scientific libraries and development tools. . Develops quality software (including test code) according to clean code principles and Blue Yonder standards. . Considers operational aspects of machine learning services in early design stages and strives for more automation and self-service to reduce operational efforts for themselves and the team. . Empowers team members by sharing knowledge and providing hints so they come up with their own solutions. . Leads by example. Secondary Duties and Responsibilities . Becomes a subject matter expert in one or more product areas. . Writes effective test cases. . Actively provides feedback during code reviews. . Keeps up to date with technology and researches latest trends in the industry. . Has a deep understanding of the problem domain the team works on and the interaction points with other teams. . Participates in translating scientific contributions into patents, publications, or conferences. . Timely and proactively communicates impediments to commitments. . Communicates information internally across teams. . Communicates information internally and externally with customers and partners. . Participates in team activities such as backlog grooming, planning, daily standups, and retrospectives. . Makes impediments transparent and helps others to overcome theirs. . Reflects on alignment of team vision with company vision. . Actively shapes team vision. . Shapes team roadmap towards achieving this vision. . Understands functional and technical requirements of software components. . Provides input for the prioritization of issues in the backlog and autonomously pulls issues or supports other team members as appropriate. . Translates business requirements to user stories and actively seeks feedback by the stakeholders. . Participates in team hiring activities and evolves the hiring culture within the team. . Understands machine learning infrastructure costs of their products and services, monitors actual costs, and optimizes resource consumption. . Identifies inefficient use of computational resources in the machine learning pipeline and uses adequate patterns and technologies to resolve this. . Scales machine learning pipeline to meet throughput targets and time windows. . Reflects on how the team works towards delivering value and actively improves processes within their team.
