Staff Software Developer

Since building our platform from scratch, our engineers have been continuously reshaping the payments landscape. Due to our rapid growth, we design everything with scalability in mind. We solve real problems for our merchants, creating new functionalities and building impactful solutions to help them grow.

As a staff engineer you will be responsible for the full development cycle from designing your software to testing and ensuring everything works as expected after deployment in a weekly release. You will be owning challenging projects that require not only strong technical skills, but extensive communication across different teams and time zones.

Joining the Mumbai office means you will be part of our APAC stream where one of the key responsibilities is to provide an easy way for merchants to integrate the most relevant, high-performing, and preferred payment methods to their customers in this region. On top of all the complex work necessary in India, you'll be exposed to other parts of the platform including, but not limited to, all different APAC region related challenges.

• You'll be an key contributor to a multi-threaded, highly performing, and complex software system
• You'll use your critical mindset by exploring the context and knowing the 'why.' Your ideas will be heard right from the start
• You'll be in charge of the model, architecture, coding, testing, security, and release of your projects

What you'll do

• Lead complex technical projects from requirements analysis through design, implementation, testing and launch into production
• Be hands on and contribute to the implementation, but at the same time offer technical guidance and mentoring to other engineers
• Identify and improve parts of the platform to make it more robust and scalable
• Bring your own point of view on best engineering practices
• Your code will be used at scale and you are expected to think in that mindset when building features
• We launch fast and iterate often. Concretely, this means that within your first few weeks, you will bring live functionalities that impact many merchants and shoppers.
• Collaborate across different teams located in multiple offices, including Singapore, Sydney and Amsterdam

Who you are

• Familiar with complex large scale distributed systems
• You're innovative, love dealing with ambiguity, have strong problem-solving capabilities
• You're able to serve as an escalation point to varied technical and operational issues
• Experienced in driving technical projects in a fast paced environment
• Currently working at Staff Engineer or similar level
• You have great communication skills and the ability to articulate complex technical concepts in front of different stakeholders
• Required technical qualifications:

• Demonstrated knowledge of building Java based web services (RESTful, SOAP)
• Experienced in designing performant database models in PostgreSQL or other relational databases
• Experienced in working with distributed systems
• Open to some domestic and international travel
