The Staff Nurse - ICU provides comprehensive, high-quality nursing care to critically ill patients requiring continuous monitoring, advanced life support, and complex medical interventions. The nurse works collaboratively with physicians and the multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and family support.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Care
Provide direct nursing care to critically ill patients in accordance with established protocols and standards
Perform continuous monitoring of vital signs, hemodynamic status, and neurological condition
Administer medications, blood products, and IV infusions safely and accurately
Operate and manage life-support equipment such as ventilators, cardiac monitors, infusion pumps, and CRRT machines
Assist with invasive procedures (e.g., central lines, arterial lines, intubation)
Respond promptly to medical emergencies, including cardiac arrest and rapid deterioration
Implement infection control and patient safety measures
Patient & Family Support
Provide emotional support and education to patients and families regarding condition and care plan
Communicate effectively with families while maintaining patient confidentiality
Advocate for patient needs and ethical care
Documentation & Communication
Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in medical records
Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and handover reports
Communicate changes in patient condition promptly to the medical team
Professional Practice
Follow hospital policies, procedures, and evidence-based nursing practices
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and audits
Maintain professional competency through continuing education and training
Precept and mentor junior nurses or nursing students as assigned
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Nursing
Valid nursing license/registration with relevant regulatory authority
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (required or within probation period)
Critical Care Nursing certification (preferred)
Minimum 1-2 years of ICU or critical care experience (may vary)
