Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
Writes initial nursing histories, assesses patients' conditions and develops individual care plans for patients assigned to the unit.
Administers and controls medications.
Maintain and ensures the patient's case file is intact.
Maintains a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patient/families in accordance with hospital standards.
Co-operates with other personnel to achieve department objectives and maintain good employee relations, interdepartmental objectives, and infection control policies.
Performs a variety of nursing administrative duties.
Inspects the assigned area daily for compliance with policies, procedures, regulations, and standards and takes corrective action when violations occur.
Assists attending physicians and aids patients and families as needed in times of stress or crisis.
Assists with patient discharge planning.
Checks the ward stock, by each shift staff and ensure all the equipment's functioning on every day basis.
Assists physician during procedure, monitors and continues care for patient after procedures and assist in emergencies occurring prior / post or during the procedure.
