The Staff Nurse in a diagnostic center is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic procedures. The nurse ensures patient safety, prepares patients for tests, assists medical staff, and maintains accurate medical records while upholding all clinical and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities1. Patient Care
Receive, assess, and prepare patients for diagnostic tests (e.g., X-ray, CT scan, MRI, ultrasound, ECG, blood tests).
Explain procedures to patients and address concerns to reduce anxiety.
Monitor vital signs before, during, and after procedures, if required.
Assist vulnerable patients (elderly, disabled, pediatric) with mobility and comfort.
2. Clinical Support
Assist radiologists, pathologists, and technicians during diagnostic procedures.
Prepare and maintain sterile equipment and procedure rooms.
Collect blood, urine, and other specimens following standard protocols.
Perform IV cannulation, injection administration, and other nursing procedures when needed.
Ensure infection control practices are strictly followed.
3. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate patient records, consent forms, and nursing notes.
Update electronic medical records (EMR) with patient assessments and procedure details.
Report abnormal findings or patient complications to the physician immediately.
4. Safety & Quality Assurance
Follow radiation safety guidelines and protective measures.
Ensure proper handling and disposal of biological waste.
Participate in quality improvement activities, audits, and training programs.
5. Patient Experience
Provide compassionate care and support to ensure a positive patient experience.
Coordinate patient flow to reduce waiting time.
Guide patients on post-procedure instructions when required.
Qualifications
Education:
Diploma in General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM) / B.Sc. Nursing / Post-Basic B.Sc. Nursing.
License:
Valid nursing registration with the State Nursing Council.
Experience:
0-3 years of experience (experience in diagnostic/clinical settings preferred).
Skills:
Good communication and patient-handling skills
Knowledge of diagnostic procedures

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
