OVERVIEW: -



POSITION: NEONATAL STAFF NURSE



A. Clinical Care:



Monitor and assess the condition of newborns (vital signs, oxygen levels, feeding, etc.)

Administer prescribed medications, IV fluids, and nutrition. Provide ventilator and oxygen support as needed.

Perform routine procedures (suctioning, catheterization, blood sampling). Assist in resuscitation and emergency interventions)

B. Strong clinical knowledge of neonatal care

:

Ability to handle emergencies and use NICU equipment (ventilator, incubator, monitors)

Excellent interpersonal skills. Compassionate and patient-centered approach.

C. Patient Safety & Monitoring

:

Maintain strict infection control protocols in the NICU.

Document patient observations, treatments, and progress accurately. Report any changes in infant's condition promptly to doctors.

D. Family Support & Communication

:

Educate and guide parents of infant care, breastfeeding, and bonding. Provide emotional support to families during critical situations.

E. Team Collaboration

:

Coordinate with doctors, pediatricians, respiratory therapists, and other NICU staff. Participate in daily clinical rounds.

F. Administrative & Professional Duties

:

Maintain NICU equipment and ensure proper functioning.

Keep patient records updated and confidential.

Participate in training programs, workshops, and continuous learning.

Adhere to hospital policies, nursing standards, and ethical practices.

G. Medication & Treatment



Administer medications as per doctor's prescription.

Prepare and assist in minor procedures when required.

Maintain drug charts, IV fluids, injections, and dressing schedules.

Report any adverse reactions or changes in patient condition immediately.

H. Documentation & Records



Maintain accurate patient records (nursing notes, progress notes, intake/output).

Ensure proper handover and takeover at shift change.

Update doctors' orders and ensure timely execution.

I. Coordination



Coordinate with doctors during rounds and update them on patient progress.

Communicate effectively with patient attendants regarding care instructions.

Collaborate with housekeeping, lab, pharmacy, and other departments for smooth patient care.

J. Safety & Infection Control



Follow hospital infection control protocols strictly.

Ensure proper sterilization and handling of medical equipment.

Maintain clean and safe ward environment.

K. Emergency Response



Respond promptly to medical emergencies.

Perform CPR and assist in emergency procedures when required.

Activate emergency team and inform concerned authorities.

L.Skills & Competencies



Strong clinical knowledge and nursing skills.

Good communication and patient-handling skills.

Ability to work under pressure and in rotational shifts.

Compassionate, responsible, and ethical behavior.

Basic computer skills for documentation.

M.Qualifications



Education: GNM / B.Sc Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc Nursing.

Registration: Valid Nursing Council Registration (mandatory).

Experience: 0-5 years of experience in NICU (freshers can be considered).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ?25,000.00 - ?30,000.00 per month
