The Registered Staff Nurse is responsible for providing safe, effective, and holistic nursing care to patients as per hospital policies, clinical protocols, and professional standards. The role includes patient assessment, planning and implementing nursing care, monitoring patient progress, and ensuring proper documentation, while maintaining compassion and empathy in all interactions.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Patient Care
Provide direct nursing care including medication administration, IV therapy, wound care, and procedures as per doctor's orders and nursing protocols.
Monitor vital signs, intake-output, and clinical condition of patients and promptly report abnormalities to the treating physician.
Assist in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures (ECG, catheterization, dressing, etc.).
Maintain infection control practices and ensure patient safety.
Support patients in personal hygiene, mobility, nutrition, and comfort.
Clinical Documentation & Communication
Maintain accurate and timely patient records (nursing notes, charts, treatment records).
Document assessments, nursing interventions, progress notes, and responses to treatment.
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
Ensure proper handover between shifts.
Emergency Care
Provide immediate nursing care in emergencies (CPR, Code Blue response, etc.).
Assist doctors during critical interventions and emergencies.
Ensure readiness of emergency equipment and drugs.
Coordination & Teamwork
Collaborate with doctors, physiotherapists, dieticians, and other staff for holistic patient care.
Coordinate with housekeeping and support staff to maintain ward/ICU cleanliness and supplies.
Participate in patient/family counseling and education regarding treatment, medication, and post-discharge care.
Compliance & Quality Standards
Follow hospital policies, protocols, and standard treatment guidelines.
Ensure adherence to NABH/JCI/other accreditation standards.
Maintain patient confidentiality and ethical standards in care delivery.
Participate in audits, quality improvement initiatives, and training programs.
Professional Development
Attend regular training sessions, CME programs, and skill enhancement workshops.
Keep updated with latest nursing practices, equipment, and patient care techniques.

Qualification:
GNM / B.Sc. Nursing / Post B.Sc. Nursing (Registered with State Nursing Council).
Clinical knowledge and nursing skills

Working Conditions:Rotational shifts (Morning/Evening/Night), including weekends and holidays.
