The Nursing Incharge is responsible for supervising and coordinating the daily activities of nursing staff in a ward or unit. They ensure high standards of patient care, maintain compliance with hospital policies, and act as a liaison between nursing staff, doctors, and administration.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervision & Management:
Lead and manage the nursing staff in the assigned unit/ward.
Allocate duties and responsibilities among the staff nurses.
Monitor staff attendance, punctuality, and duty roster.
Patient Care:
Ensure all patients receive quality care and that patient needs are promptly addressed.
Supervise admission, discharge, and transfer processes.
Maintain patient confidentiality and dignity.
Coordination:
Act as a communication bridge between doctors, patients, relatives, and hospital administration.
Participate in ward rounds with doctors.
Documentation & Records:
Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient records, nursing notes, and incident reports.
Maintain stock and inventory records for medical supplies and equipment.
Training & Development:
Provide training and mentorship to new or junior nurses.
Organize and attend continuing nursing education programs.
Quality & Compliance:
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, infection control practices, and safety protocols.
Participate in audits and quality improvement initiatives.
Emergency Response:
Coordinate nursing response during emergencies or critical situations.
Ensure availability of emergency drugs and equipment.
Qualifications:
GNM / B.Sc. Nursing / M.Sc. Nursing
Registration with the State Nursing Council
Minimum 3-5 years of clinical experience, preferably with 1-2 years in a supervisory role
Skills & Competencies:
Strong leadership and team management skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Good organizational and time-management skills
Knowledge of hospital policies and nursing protocols
Ability to remain calm under pressure
