Job Summary
As a
Staff Nurse
, you will be responsible for providing direct patient care, assisting physicians, administering treatments, and ensuring adherence to clinical protocols. You will play a vital role in maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality in all nursing services within the outpatient clinic setting.
Key Responsibilities1. Clinical Care and Patient Management
Patient Assessment:
Conduct initial and ongoing nursing assessments, including vital signs, physical checks, and detailed patient history collection.
Assisting Physicians:
Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, providing active assistance to the doctors during consultations, minor surgeries, and treatments.
Procedure Execution:
Safely perform clinical procedures such as administering injections (IM, SC, IV), IV cannula insertion, phlebotomy, wound dressing, nebulization, and ECG recording.
Medication Administration:
Accurately administer oral and injectable medications as prescribed, strictly following the "Five Rights" of medication safety.
2. Documentation and Reporting
Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential patient records, including nursing notes, treatment charts, and EMR entries.
Reporting:
Promptly recognize and report any significant changes in a patient's condition, adverse events, or critical findings to the attending physician.
3. Safety, Quality, and Operations
Infection Control:
Ensure strict adherence to all infection control protocols, including biomedical waste segregation, proper hand hygiene, and sterilization techniques.
Equipment Management:
Check and maintain all medical equipment (e.g., crash cart, monitors) to ensure they are functional, calibrated, and readily available.
Inventory Control:
Monitor stock levels of medications, supplies, and consumables, initiating timely reorder requests to prevent shortages.
4. Patient Education and Communication
Health Education:
Provide clear and concise health education to patients and families regarding their treatment plans, medication schedules, and post-procedure care.
Communication:
Maintain professional and empathetic communication with patients, families, and all inter-departmental staff to foster a smooth workflow.
Required Qualifications and Skills
CategoryRequirement/SkillEducation
GNM/B.Sc. in Nursing from a recognized institution.
Registration
Current and valid registration with the State Nursing Council (mandatory).
Experience
Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a hospital or clinic setting. Experience in phlebotomy is highly valued.
Key Skills
Excellent clinical skills, knowledge of basic life support (BLS), proficiency in IV access and medication administration, and strong critical thinking abilities.
