The Staff Nurse will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients with mental health disorders. The role involves monitoring patients, administering medication, supporting therapeutic interventions, and assisting psychiatrists and psychologists in treatment planning and patient management.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct nursing care to psychiatric patients as per medical and nursing care plans.
Administer prescribed medications, observe for side effects, and maintain accurate medication records.
Monitor patient behavior, emotional state, and physical health; report significant changes to the psychiatrist.
Assist in managing psychiatric emergencies such as aggression, suicidal tendencies, or acute psychotic episodes.
Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in all patient interactions.
Support in counseling, group therapy sessions, and rehabilitation activities as directed by clinical staff.
Record and maintain detailed nursing notes, progress charts, and reports in EMR or manual files.
Educate patients and family members about treatment plans, medication adherence, and self-care.
Ensure infection control, hygiene, and safety protocols are followed in wards and patient areas.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists).
Participate in staff meetings, case discussions, and continuous nursing education programs.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
GNM / B.Sc Nursing / M.Sc Nursing
Registration:
Must be a registered nurse with the respective State Nursing Council.
Experience:
0-5 years (Freshers with psychiatric interest can be considered)
