Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
Assessment: Perform initial and ongoing assessments of patients' physical and mental health, including vital signs, pain levels, and overall condition.
Care Planning: Develop and implement individualised care plans in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
Medication Administration: Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, monitor for side effects, and educate patients about their medications.
Wound Care: Provide wound care, including dressing changes, and monitor for signs of infection or complications.
Personal Care: Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, eating, and mobility. Monitoring and Documentation:
Vital Signs: Regularly monitor and record patients' vital signs and any significant changes in their condition.
Charting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, documenting assessments, interventions, and responses to treatment. Communication and Coordination:
Patient Interaction: Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing information and emotional support.
Team Collaboration: Collaborate with doctors, other nurses, and healthcare professionals to coordinate care and address patient needs.
Handover: Provide detailed handovers to other nursing staff during shift changes to ensure continuity of care. Emergency Response:
Critical Situations: Respond promptly to medical emergencies, perform basic life support (BLS) or advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) as required, and follow emergency protocols.
Safety: Identify and manage potential safety risks to patients, including falls and infections. Patient Education:
Instructions: Educate patients and their families about health conditions, treatment plans, and self-care techniques.
Discharge Planning: Assist with discharge planning, including providing instructions for home care and follow-up appointments. Administrative Duties:
Inventory Management: Manage and order medical supplies and medications as needed.
Compliance: Ensure adherence to hospital policies, infection control practices, and legal requirements.
