1. Rendering direct nursing care to sick patients as assigned by the Ward In-charge.
2. Communicating with patients' relatives and other hospital visitors and explaining the nursing care & needs of the patients.
3. Preparing patients physically and mentally for treatment, operative and diagnostic procedures.
4. Closely monitoring the health condition, including initial assessment, monitoring vitals of patients and following the progress of each assigned patient till recovery.
5. Maintaining accurate and complete records of nursing care & observation of patients.
6. Administering prescribed medication to patients
7. May perform specialized nursing procedures related to the unique needs of a particular patient population based on nursing privileges.
8. Assisting the medical staff in ascertaining medical treatment for each assigned patient
9. Always maintaining hygiene of patients.
Other responsibilities:
1. Ensuring cleanliness and sanitation of the ward.
2. Ensuring proper sterilizations and disinfection of the equipment according to the requirement.
3. Maintaining privacy and confidentiality in all aspects of nursing care.
4. Assisting the ward Sister in writing staff and students reports.
5. Participating in the checking of inventories, equipment and requisitions of all supplies.
6. Co- ordinating and co- operating with other departments.
7. Maintaining public relations with patient's relatives and other departments.
8. Helping in orientation of the students
9. To perform such other duties as are allotted from time to time.
