About the Role
We are looking for a seasoned leader playing role of Leader- Digital Engineering operation excellence to design & implement operations strategy of Engineering applications, run the lifecycle of the solutions, engineering cloud infrastructure needs, ensure scalable and secure software deployment practices and cybersecurity tooling across automotive Engineering. As leader you are responsible for supporting 6000+ engineering users spanning India, China, Germany, Romania, Japan and USA covering 70+ toolchains. You will handle a 4-5 direct reporting Managers. Your team organization will have 20+ support engineers, cloud architects, cybersecurity specialists, and support staff. You will report to Executive director of Digital Engineering.
You will be responsible for operationalizing the solutions deployed as part of Engineering transformation, measure KPI and improve performance, influence business to follow best practices, ensuring compliance with industry standards and activating excellence across solution platform, toolchains, infrastructure and cloud.
What You Will Do
Vision & Operations Strategy

  • Partner with Digital and business leaders to define and execute operations strategy covering availability, automation, self-service, scalability, and cost optimization.
  • Build a multi-year roadmap including budget, resourcing, and insource/outsource strategy.
  • Drive continuous improvement, operational excellence, and AI-led automation.
  • Define multi-tier SLAs based on application criticality and ensure delivery.
Engineering Operations & Transformation
  • Lead transformation initiatives to improve service quality, productivity, and engineering self-service.
  • Ensure smooth operations including uptime, performance, incident management, and cost efficiency.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure and Digital teams to ensure scalability, reliability, and observability.
  • Transition solutions into steady-state operations across PLM, ALM, DevSecOps, AI, and automation.
Platform Ownership
  • ALM: IBM Rational DOORS/DNG, RTC, RQM, JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket/Stash
  • PLM: Siemens Teamcenter, Opcenter, PCM
  • CAD/CAE:CATIA, NX, ANSYS, Creo, Siemens Expedition
  • Embedded Software: MATLAB/Simulink, Vector CANoe
  • Version Control Systems: GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket
  • CI/CD Platforms: Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Kubernetes
  • Artifact Repositories: JFrog Artifactory
  • SAST Tools (platform operations and end-user support): CodeSonar, Coverity, Black Duck, Snyk
Governance, Compliance & Risk
  • Establish governance frameworks for tools, cloud, and secure development.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 26262, ASPICE, ISO 21434, GDPR, etc., and lead audits and risk management.
Cost & FinOps Leadership
  • Drive FinOps, license optimization, cloud cost governance, and vendor management.
  • Publish cost and optimization reports and support strategic sourcing decisions.
M&A Integration
  • Support M&A tool, data, and platform migrations and drive adoption of standard enterprise tools.
People, Vendor & Reporting
  • Lead and develop high-performing teams and vendors; drive innovation and continuous learning.
  • Define KPIs and provide regular executive reporting on operational health, risks, and improvements.
What You Need to Be Successful
  • 15-20+ years of experience in IT operations, engineering applications, or digital transformation.
  • Hands-on experience with engineering toolchains - PLM, ALM, CAD/CAE, DevSecOps, CI/CD, Cloud Infrastructure, IBM rational , IBM doors.
  • Prior exposure to governance, compliance frameworks (ISO 26262, ASPICE, ISO 21434, GDPR).
  • Expertise in cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity tooling, and scalable software deployment practices.
  • Analytical mindset with ability to define KPIs, measure performance, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Experience in a corporate setting and ease in interacting with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Confidence in working within fast-paced, cross-functional environments, often involving ambiguity and requiring adaptability.
  • Empathy for colleagues in varying circumstances, enabling you to tailor materials to meet their needs.
Bonus Points if You Have
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Advanced certifications in Cloud, Cybersecurity, or IT Operations (e.g., AWS, Azure, CISSP, ITIL) are a plus.
  • Basic instructional design or training coordination experience.
  • Organizational change management & project management experience.
  • Proficiency in Adobe and or SharePoint, Strong writing and editing skills with keen attention to tone and clarity, along with proficiency in Word and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in global, multi-cultural companies.

  • As this is a hybrid role, weekly commuting to the nearest Harman office is expected.
  • Flexibility in working hours to support activities in the Novi, Michigan, USA office and, on occasion, other time zones.
