The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all wood, furniture, and interior production processes meet the company's quality standards. This role oversees inspection activities, develops quality systems, leads continuous improvement initiatives, and ensures adherence to customer specifications and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities1. Quality Planning & System Management
Develop, implement, and monitor the Quality Management System (QMS) specific to wood and furniture manufacturing.
Prepare quality plans, SOPs, and inspection guidelines for production, finishing, assembly, and dispatch.
Ensure compliance with ISO standards (ISO 9001 or other relevant certifications).
2. Production Process Quality
Conduct in-process inspections for woodworking, machining, edge-banding, CNC operations, assembly, sanding, painting, and polishing.
Monitor raw material quality (plywood, MDF, hardware, laminates, veneers, adhesives, etc.).
Verify calibration of measuring tools and equipment.
Ensure correct handling and storage of materials to avoid warping, moisture issues, or damage.
3. Supplier & Material Quality
Evaluate and approve suppliers of wood, boards, hardware, finishes, and consumables.
Conduct supplier audits and follow up on corrective actions.
Maintain records of incoming quality checks (IQC).
4. Customer Quality & Compliance
Understand client drawings, BOQs, and quality standards.
Address customer complaints, analyze root causes, and implement corrective actions.
Ensure final product inspections before dispatch meet project specifications.
5. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain inspection reports, NCR (Non-Conformance Reports), CAPA records, defect logs, and quality metrics.
Prepare weekly/monthly MIS reports on defects, scrap rates, and improvements.
Support audits and customer inspections.
6. Team Leadership & Training
Train production teams, operators, and supervisors on quality standards and best practices.
Guide junior quality engineers and inspectors.
Ensure adherence to 5S, safety guidelines, and process discipline.
7. Continuous Improvement
Lead initiatives to reduce rework, wastage, and defects.
Implement Kaizen, root cause analysis, and process improvements.
Develop new quality checkpoints for new product lines or custom projects.
Key Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of
woodworking processes
, joinery, finishing, and hardware.
Expertise in
measuring tools, inspection methods, and quality standards

Experience in
CNC machining / AutoCAD / Pytha
(optional but preferred).
Leadership and communication skills.
Ability to work with production, design, and project teams under tight deadlines.
Educational & Experience Requirements
Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, Wood Technology, or relevant field.
5-8 years of experience in quality control/assurance in the wood, furniture, or interior fit-out industry.
Experience in modular furniture, retail fixtures, wooden joinery, or factory manufacturing preferred.
