Job Title: SCADA Engineer for Solar Projects
Summary:
We are seeking a skilled SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) Engineer specialized in solar projects to join our team. The SCADA Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining SCADA systems for solar power plants. This role requires expertise in SCADA technology, solar energy systems, and a strong understanding of electrical and control systems.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design and develop SCADA systems tailored for solar power plants, ensuring efficient monitoring, control, and data acquisition.
2. Collaborate with project teams to understand system requirements and provide input on SCADA architecture and integration with existing systems.
3. Configure and program SCADA software to collect data from solar inverters, weather stations, sensors, and other devices within the solar plant.
4. Implement communication protocols such as Modbus, DNP3, or OPC to establish reliable communication between SCADA systems and field devices.
5. Conduct testing and validation of SCADA systems to ensure accuracy, reliability, and compliance with project specifications.
6. Troubleshoot technical issues related to SCADA systems, including hardware, software, and communication failures, and implement solutions in a timely manner.
7. Perform SCADA system upgrades, patches, and modifications to improve performance and functionality.
8. Provide technical support and training to operations and maintenance teams for effective utilization of SCADA systems.
9. Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in SCADA technology, solar energy systems, and regulatory requirements to continuously improve design practices.
10. Collaborate with vendors and contractors to procure SCADA hardware and software components, ensuring compatibility and compliance with project standards.
11. Assist in the commissioning and startup of solar power plants, including SCADA system integration and testing.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
2. Proven experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining SCADA systems, preferably in the renewable energy sector with a focus on solar projects.
3. Proficiency in SCADA software platforms such as Ignition, Wonderware, Siemens WinCC, or similar.
4. Strong programming skills in languages commonly used in SCADA development, such as ladder logic, structured text, or Function Block Diagram (FBD).
5. Familiarity with communication protocols commonly used in SCADA systems, such as Modbus, DNP3, OPC, and TCP/IP.
6. Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.
7. Knowledge of electrical systems, power distribution, and control systems in the context of solar energy projects.
8. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
9. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
10. Professional certifications in SCADA systems, such as Certified SCADA Security Architect (CSSA) or Certified SCADA Engineer (CSE), are a plus.
11. Willingness to travel occasionally to project sites for installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities.
