Senior Azure Virtual Desktop Engineer / Administrator



Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) Administrator to manage, optimize, and support our cloud-based virtual desktop infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Azure, particularly Azure Virtual Desktop, and a strong background in Windows Server, Active Directory, and enterprise desktop management.



Key Responsibilities:
Design, deploy, and manage Azure Virtual Desktop environments across multiple regions and user groups.

Monitor performance and availability of AVD services and perform capacity planning.

Implement and manage image creation, maintenance, and deployment using Azure Image Builder and shared image galleries.

Develop automation scripts using PowerShell, Azure CLI, or Terraform to streamline provisioning and maintenance tasks.

Integrate AVD with Azure Active Directory and Group Policies for security and compliance.

Troubleshoot and resolve user access, performance, and connectivity issues in virtual desktops.

Maintain and update Windows OS configurations and patch management for AVD session hosts.

Collaborate with security teams to enforce endpoint protection and compliance policies.

Provide Tier 3 support for AVD issues escalated from the service desk or IT support teams.

Maintain documentation, runbooks, and knowledge base articles for AVD operations.


Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).

7+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, with at least 5 years focused on Azure Virtual Desktop.

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure services, Azure Resource Manager (ARM), and Virtual Networks.

Proficiency in Windows 10/11, Windows Server (2016/2019/2022), Active Directory, and Group Policy.

Experience with FSLogix for user profile management.

Hands-on experience with Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune), Defender for Endpoint, and Conditional Access policies.

Expertise in PowerShell scripting and automation.

Migrating application from Citrix to AVD.
Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:
Azure certifications (e.g., AZ-104, AZ-140, AZ-500).

Experience with Citrix or VMware Horizon on Azure.

Knowledge of Microsoft 365 ecosystem (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint).

Familiarity with monitoring tools like Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Sentinel.

Ability to lead technical initiatives and mentor junior administrators.

Self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
