Job Description

The Senior OT Technician is responsible for supervising and assisting in all surgical procedures, ensuring the OT is properly prepared, sterilized, and maintained. The role involves guiding junior technicians, managing OT equipment, and ensuring compliance with infection control and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare the operation theatre before surgery, ensuring all instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies are ready. Assist surgeons and anesthetists during operative procedures by handling instruments and maintaining sterile conditions. Monitor and ensure adherence to aseptic and sterilization protocols. Maintain and manage OT inventory, including instruments, disposables, and linen. Supervise and guide junior OT technicians and support staff. Check and maintain functionality of OT equipment and report any malfunctions promptly. Assist in positioning and preparation of patients for surgery. Coordinate with nursing, anesthesia, and surgical teams for smooth OT workflow. Ensure proper documentation of surgical cases, equipment usage, and sterilization records. Maintain infection control standards and participate in OT quality improvement initiatives. Support emergency and elective surgeries as per schedule and requirement.

Qualification & Experience:

Diploma / B.Sc. in Operation Theatre Technology or equivalent qualification. Minimum

3-5 years of experience

as an OT Technician, with at least

1-2 years in a senior/supervisory role.

Experience in handling general, laparoscopic, orthopedic, and emergency surgeries preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

Strong knowledge of surgical instruments and OT equipment. Excellent understanding of aseptic and sterilization techniques. Leadership and team coordination skills. Good communication and organizational skills. Ability to work under pressure and handle emergencies effectively.
