Job Description

The Sr. Supervisor, Field Raw Material oversees the procurement, quality, inventory, and coordination of raw materials from field sources, such as villages, aggregators, and traders, to manufacturing plants. This role is vital in industries like agriculture, biomass, or natural products where materials are sourced directly from the field.
Key Responsibilities

• Sourcing and Supplier Management: Design and implement outreach programs to identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers (e.g., villages, aggregators, traders). Build and maintain strong relationships to ensure a sustainable and cost-effective supply chain. Negotiate pricing and contract terms.
• Team Leadership and Supervision: Supervise and guide plant-based or field sourcing teams, assigning procurement targets and monitoring their performance. Provide coaching, training, and leadership to ensure all staff adhere to safety and quality protocols.
• Inventory and Supply Chain Management: Align raw material procurement plans with production schedules and monitor inventory levels to avoid stockouts or wastage. Coordinate with logistics and production teams to ensure a smooth flow of materials.
• Quality Assurance and Compliance: Ensure all procured materials comply with quality standards, safety regulations, and relevant industry guidelines. Conduct supplier audits and monitor quality control processes.
• Reporting and Data Analysis: Monitor market trends for raw materials, analyze historical data to predict future needs, and prepare regular procurement performance reports for management review. Maintain accurate records of all transactions in ERP systems.
• Cost Control and Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for cost savings and implement process improvements to boost efficiency and reduce waste in the sourcing and handling processes.

Qualifications and Skills

• Education: A bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is typically required.
• Experience: Minimum of 6-10+ years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or materials management, preferably with experience in agricultural commodity procurement or rural outreach.
• Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and data analysis tools.
• Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
• Familiarity with relevant quality standards and safety procedures.
• Soft Skills:

• Strong leadership and team management abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, often including regional languages for field work.
• Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and solve problems effectively.
