Required Skills Enterprise Storage Management (NetApp, PureStorage, HPE)& Backup Solutions (CommVault, Veeam, Cohesity)
A highly skilled and detail oriented IT Storage and Backup Engineer to design, implement, and manage enterprise grade storage and backup solutions. This role is critical to ensuring data availability, integrity, and recoverability across the organization. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in SAN/NAS systems, backup technologies, and disaster recovery planning, along with a proactive approach to performance optimization and risk mitigation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Storage Infrastructure Management
Design, deploy, and maintain enterprise storage systems (SAN, NAS, object storage) across OEMs (NetApp, HPE, PureStorage)
Monitor storage performance, capacity, and health using industry standard tools
Implement storage provisioning, tiering, and optimization strategies
2. Backup & Recovery Operations
Configure and manage backup (Veeam, Cohesity, CommVault) solutions across physical, virtual, and cloud environments
Ensure successful execution of backup jobs, replication, and retention policies
Perform regular restore tests and validate disaster recovery readiness
3. Data Protection & Compliance
Enforce data protection policies aligned with business continuity and compliance standards
Support audits and reporting related to data retention, encryption, and recovery procedures
Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to secure backup repositories and storage endpoints
4. Incident Response & Troubleshooting
Investigate and resolve storage and backup related incidents and performance issues
Provide root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
Participate in on call rotations and support critical infrastructure during outages
5. Documentation & Collaboration
Maintain detailed documentation of configurations, procedures, and recovery plans
Work closely with application, network, and cloud teams to align storage and backup strategies
Provide technical guidance and training to junior engineers or support staff
Key Skills & Competencies
Expertise in enterprise storage platforms (e.g., NetApp, HPE, Pure Storage)
Hands on experience with backup tools (e.g., Veeam, Commvault, Veritas NetBackup, Rubrik)
Strong understanding of RAID levels, LUN provisioning, snapshots, and replication
Familiarity with cloud storage and backup services (e.g., Azure Backup, AWS S3/Glacier)
Knowledge of disaster recovery frameworks and business continuity planning
Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
Qualifications
Bachelor s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
Relevant certifications such as NetApp NCDA, Veeam VMCE, Commvault Certified Professional, or equivalent
Experience in ITIL based environments is a plus
