The Institute of Public Health Sciences Hyderabad (IPHSH) is a society registered under Telangana society’s registration Act 2001 and is managed by an empowered governing board comprising of corporate leaders, civil society representatives and eminent academic and scientific leaders. IPHSH’s core mission areas include: establishing and governing the Indian Institute of Public Health-Hyderabad for developing public health workforce; advancing public health research and technology; and strengthening health systems through evidence informed practice and policy The Indian Institute of Public Health (IIPH) Hyderabad commenced with a mission to deliver public health education, pursue research and advocacy and support policy development. It lays strong emphasis on pursuing public health policy, practice, training and research, positioning its programmes according to the public health priorities of the state and the nation. The institute has brought together a highly qualified and diverse faculty of nationally and internationally trained and extremely motivated public health academics and practitioners. It aims to create an environment that supports excellence in instruction, research and practice.

Project objectives are

• To decrease overall mortality associated with oral cavity cancer in the district of Sundargarh, Odisha
• Early, non-invasive detection and diagnosis of oral premalignant lesions and oral cancer with improved sensitivity and specificity as compared to conventional methods.
• Improve access to health care providers and services amongst the rural population so that oral cancer can be detected before it reaches advanced and incurable stages,
• Raise general awareness regarding the role of deleterious habits in causing oral cancer and educating the masses about the various ways of prevention and management.
• To assist in improving access to deaddiction services to decrease the prevalence of deleterious habits in the at-risk population.

Deliverables:

• Identification of local healthcare workers/Use of existing healthcare workers for training and implementation of the Program
• Household survey for identification of High risk/at-risk individuals
• Initial scoring by healthcare workers (HCWs) with intraoral camera, Spectrophotometric device, mobile phone (app based) and handheld devices to identify the presence of lesions and the risk factors
• HCWs need to document important information as mentioned in Annexure III which is designed to collect the survey details of each family, habits of the family members, identification of at-risk individual and detailed history of the exposure in that individual
• To provide the basics of Oral Hygiene, educate about early signs of cancer and provide counselling for deaddiction for tobacco and alcohol. If required referral to a specialist for deaddiction
• Any other tasks assigned by Supervisor/PI.

Qualification:
Essential:

• Master’s in Public health / Diploma in Public Health
• Project Management skills

Desirable:

• Any Post graduation related to Public Health

Experience:
Essential:

• 1-2 years of of experience in Public health sectors
  

Desirable: Project management
