Position Summary
We are hiring an experienced
Production Chemist / Sr. Production Chemist
for our
API manufacturing plant
at Ankleshwar GIDC. The ideal candidate must have strong expertise in
API batch execution, reactor handling, documentation, safety norms, ERP data entry, and shift coordination
.
Key Responsibilities1. Batch Execution & API Manufacturing Operations
Execute chemical reactions and batch operations as per
BMR/MFR
.
Handle GLR/SSR reactors, centrifuges, ANFD, dryers, distillation columns, scrubbers.
Monitor and record reaction parameters (Temperature, Pressure, Vacuum, pH, Time).
Ensure accurate charging of raw materials, solvents, and catalysts.
2. ERP Pharma Software Operation
(Mandatory for both Chemist & Sr Chemist)
Perform
batch entries, material consumption entries, process parameter logs
in ERP.
Update daily production reports, yield data, inventory usage through ERP.
Track batch-wise material planning and consumption in software.
Maintain digital GMP documentation through ERP modules.
3. Documentation & GMP Compliance
Maintain real-time entries in
BMR/BPR
, logbooks, cleaning records, shift reports.
Ensure compliance with
GMP, cGMP, ICH Q7, and Data Integrity (ALCOA+)
.
Participate in deviation, incident, and change control documentation.
4. Equipment Operation & Troubleshooting
Perform equipment cleaning, equipment readiness checks, and line clearance.
Support minor troubleshooting during reaction or equipment abnormality.
Coordinate with Maintenance team for equipment breakdown handling.
5. Safety & EHS Compliance
Follow all safety protocols related to chemicals, solvents, high-pressure reactions.
Ensure proper usage of
PPE, MSDS safety precautions, and plant EHS rules
.
Report unsafe conditions, near-misses, and incidents immediately.
6. Coordination & Supervision
(For Sr. Production Chemist)
Supervise Operators and Helpers during batch operations.
Allocate manpower, ensure discipline, and maintain shift productivity.
Coordinate with QA, QC, Warehouse, and Engineering departments.
7. Yield & Process Improvement
Identify opportunities for
yield improvement, cycle time reduction
, and process optimization.
Reduce batch variations and ensure consistent process performance.
Support scale-up activities in coordination with R&D / Tech-transfer.
Required SkillsTechnical Skills
Strong knowledge of
API chemical reactions & plant operations
.
Hands-on experience with reactors, filtration, distillation, drying & solvent recovery.
Good understanding of
Good communication & team-handling ability.
Strong discipline, problem-solving skills & process-oriented mindset.
Ability to work in rotating shifts.
Leadership skills for senior-level responsibilities.
Experience Required
7-10+ years
mandatory in
API Production Department
(not formulation).
Experience in multi-step synthetic reactions is required.
Shift-in-charge experience preferred for Senior Chemist role.
Must have practical ERP software handling experience.
