Job Purpose
The Planning Engineer is responsible for end-to-end production planning, scheduling, and monitoring of transformer manufacturing activities to ensure on-time delivery, optimal resource utilization, and alignment with customer commitments. The role integrates production, procurement, and project execution for complex, made-to-order transformer products.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Planning & Scheduling
Prepare master production plans for power and distribution transformers based on order book and capacity.
Develop detailed manufacturing schedules covering:
Core cutting & stacking
Winding (HV/LV)
Assembly & insulation
Tanking, drying, oil filling
Testing & dispatch
Balance workloads across bays, machines, and manpower.
2. Order & Project Management
Track customer orders from order release to dispatch.
Ensure adherence to contractual delivery dates.
Identify risks and bottlenecks and initiate corrective actions.
Coordinate milestone tracking for large and export transformers.
3. Material Planning & Coordination
Prepare MRP and BOM-based material requirements.
Coordinate with Purchase and Stores for:
CRGO / amorphous core
Copper / aluminum conductors
Insulation materials
Bought-out items (bushings, tap changers, fittings)
Ensure material availability aligned with production schedules.
4. Capacity Planning & Optimization
Analyze plant capacity, constraints, and resource availability.
Improve throughput and reduce cycle time.
Support capacity expansion and layout optimization initiatives.
5. Monitoring, Reporting & Control
Monitor daily/weekly production progress against plan.
Track KPIs such as:
On-time delivery (OTD)
Plan vs actual
WIP aging
Cycle time
Prepare MIS reports and dashboards for management review.
6. Cross-Functional Coordination
Interface with Engineering for drawing release and revisions.
Coordinate with Quality for inspection, testing, and NCR closure.
Work closely with Operations, Purchase, Stores, Dispatch, and Projects teams.
Participate in customer meetings related to delivery commitments.
7. Process Improvement & Systems
Implement best practices in PPC, Lean manufacturing, and TOC.
Drive improvements in planning accuracy and schedule adherence.
Utilize ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, MS Dynamics, etc.) effectively.
Support digitalization of planning and tracking processes.
8. Team Leadership (if applicable)
Guide junior planning engineers and planners.
Standardize planning procedures and documentation.
Train team on systems, planning tools, and best practices.
Experience required: 9 to 10 years

Pay: ?800,000.00 - ?1,000,000.00 per year
