DESCRIPTION
Trading Operations Risk has an excellent opportunity for an energetic, driven and risk aware candidate with relevant Operations experience to contribute to the creation and execution of the departments risk agenda. The role provides the opportunity to gain experience of the products and activities of the department and to build a broad network of senior stakeholders and subject matter experts.

Background
The Trading Operations Risk Team is responsible for setting, executing upon and enforcing the Trading Ops risk management agenda. This is achieved through partnering closely with line teams, senior stakeholders, subject matter experts, other risk teams and colleagues from across the broader organisation.

Trading Operations is the global trade capture organisation for the Institutional Securities Group (ISG). Businesses supported include Institutional Equity, Fixed Income, Global Loan Services and Commodities and activities covered include Trade Support, Position Control and Confirmations.

The team is responsible for risk management governance, design, evolution and preparation of key risk reporting to senior stakeholders. The team is also involved in various proactive and preventative risk reduction initiatives, focused deep dives and proactively drives adherence to the firm-wide risk framework, policy and standards.

Function / Roles & Responsibilities
The role will be to act as a risk manager for Trading Operations, reporting into the Asia Trading Operations Risk lead (VP).

The individual will be working in a challenging and fast paced environment with a constantly evolving agenda. The role requires regular interaction with risk managers in all departments, divisions, line managers and communication to various levels of management within Operations and other areas in the firm.

The successful individual will have strong verbal and written communication skills and a background in a relevant financial services role, in particular experience of Operational processing and control activities.

The candidate will also be able to demonstrate leadership qualities and the ability to actively partner with the broader risk management community.

High Level Responsibilities and expectations will include:
Function and product aligned Operations risk management.
Acting as a representative for the Trading Ops Risk Team.
Support risk colleagues and senior management in designing and facilitating key business aligned risk management programs and risk-aligned projects/deep dives.
Coordination with Operations Risk and Control, Audit and other Operations Risk teams to design, facilitate and execute upon initiatives, in support of governance efforts across ISG Product Operations.
Support the overall risk environment through upholding and developing the risk and control agenda and through the on-going development and evolution of key metrics.
Coordination, production and presentation of risk based information to our business and management stakeholders.
Contributing to the production of risk packs and key risk indicators, inclusive of analysis, trending, exception management and commentary.
Execute upon a potentially broad range of strategic projects, including but not limited to; reducing aged cash/stock breaks, new business initiatives, entitlements governance.
Execute risk/control reviews and/or quality assurance exercises and actively seek for opportunities to enhance existing framework.
Take part in the regular risk meetings with senior managements and other risk teams in discussions of risks and controls within Operations.

QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in financial services, particularly Operations activities and ideally with experience in a line and/or risk management role.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Confidence and ability to influence stakeholders and build relationships, both within Operations and across the broader organisation.
Demonstrate analytical skills and attention to detail in their prior work experience.
Candidate should be a self-starter with the ability to work either on their own initiative or as part of a broader team.
Ability to work independently, multi-task and keep track of outstanding items and meet deadlines.
Flexibility to react and adapt to business needs and changing priorities.
Individual should be performance-driven, proactive and able to display a proven ability to take on challenges and to execute upon key deliverables.
Strong awareness of risk and control. Able to challenge the existing processes and status quo.
Strong sense of urgency, accountability and ownership and proactively escalates issues / roadblocks.
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office.
