Sr. Mold Designer - Plastic Mold Manufacturing

Job Title: Sr. Mold Designer Plastic Injection Molding

Department: Tooling / Design Engineering

Reports To: Design Manager / Tool Room Head

Job Summary:

The Mold Designer will be responsible for designing high-quality plastic injection molds based on product design specifications, customer requirements, and manufacturing feasibility. The role involves 3D and 2D mold design, ensuring manufacturability, durability, and cost efficiency of molds for plastic components.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop 3D and 2D designs for plastic injection molds using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, UG NX, AutoCAD, CATIA, Creo, or Moldflow).

Study product design and evaluate mold feasibility based on part geometry, material, and process.

Design complete mold assemblies, including core, cavity, ejector systems, cooling, runner, and gating.

Perform mold flow analysis to optimize part design and minimize defects such as warpage, sink marks, or air traps.

Collaborate with toolmakers, production engineers, and customers to finalize mold designs.

Ensure DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFT (Design for Tooling) principles are applied.

Prepare detailed 2D drawings, BOMs, and design documentation for manufacturing.

Support mold trials and validation, analyzing results and implementing design improvements.

Ensure mold designs meet quality, cost, and delivery targets.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of mold design standards, materials, and technologies.

Qualifications & Skills:

Diploma / Bachelors Degree in Tool & Die Making, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

3-7 years of experience in plastic injection mold design.

Strong knowledge of plastic materials, molding processes, and tooling concepts.

Proficiency in CAD software (UG NX / SolidWorks / AutoCAD / CATIA / Creo).

Understanding of mold flow analysis and GD&T principles.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Good communication and teamwork skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Pay: ?500,000.00 - ?800,000.00 per year
