The Textile Merchandiser will be responsible for managing product development, sampling, costing, vendor coordination, production follow-ups, and ensuring timely delivery of textile products. The role requires strong coordination between buyers, designers, production units, and suppliers to execute orders smoothly from concept to shipment.
Key Responsibilities:1. Product Development & Sampling
Develop textile products as per buyer requirements and market trends.
Coordinate with design and sampling teams for new product development.
Prepare mood boards, fabric swatches, trims, and design options for buyers.
Follow up on sample approvals, feedback, and revisions.
2. Buyer & Vendor Communication
Act as a point of contact between buyers and production teams.
Communicate order details, quality expectations, timelines, and approvals.
Maintain professional relationships with suppliers, artisans, printers, and manufacturers.
3. Costing & Order Confirmation
Prepare cost sheets for new styles, including fabric, trims, labor, printing, and packaging.
Negotiate pricing with vendors while maintaining product quality.
Share costing with buyers and finalize order booking.
4. Production Management
Issue purchase orders for fabric, prints, trims, and accessories.
Monitor production timelines to ensure on-time delivery.
Conduct factory visits to monitor production stages, quality checks, and finishing.
Coordinate with QA team to resolve quality issues.
5. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain order sheets, T&A (Time & Action Plans) to track deadlines and approvals.
Prepare production status reports and share regular updates with buyers.
Ensure proper documentation related to shipments, invoices, and packaging details.
Skills & Qualifications Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Textile Design, Fashion Technology, Merchandising, or related field.
1-5 years of experience in textile merchandising (apparel/home textiles/fabrics).
Strong understanding of fabrics, printing techniques, embroidery, trims, and surface ornamentation.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and follow-up skills.
Proficiency in MS Excel, T&A tracking, Google Sheets, and email communication.
Ability to multitask and manage end-to-end merchandising workflow.
