- Senior Mechanical Engineer (O&M)

The Senior Mechanical Engineer shall be responsible for

overall operation, maintenance, and performance management

of the water supply O&M projects executed by

M/s Kumarji Lal

, with specific responsibility for

Ranney Wells and Tube Wells located in Faridabad

. He shall handle

all technical, operational, and maintenance aspects of the project

, ensuring uninterrupted water supply in strict accordance with contractual obligations and departmental instructions.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will oversee the operation and maintenance of

Ranney Well pumping systems

, Tube Wells, and associated mechanical infrastructure including vertical turbine pumps, motors, pipelines, valves, couplings, bearings, and allied equipment. He shall ensure optimal performance, correct alignment, vibration control, proper lubrication, and adherence to manufacturer-recommended operating parameters.

A key responsibility of the role shall be

discharge monitoring and performance evaluation

of all Ranney Wells and Tube Wells. The Senior Mechanical Engineer shall ensure accurate measurement, recording, and analysis of discharge, flow rates, head, pumping efficiency, and system losses. He must possess

strong and practical knowledge of Fluid Mechanics

, including pump curves, head-discharge relationships, hydraulic losses, flow measurement techniques, and efficiency assessment. Based on analysis, he shall take corrective measures to optimize discharge, improve system efficiency, and ensure compliance with departmental norms.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer shall plan and implement

preventive maintenance schedules

and attend to

breakdown maintenance

with minimum downtime. He shall supervise overhauling of pumps and motors, replacement of worn-out components, coordination with OEMs and vendors for major repairs, and maintenance of adequate spare inventory. Detailed maintenance records, history cards, and breakdown logs shall be maintained systematically.

He shall ensure proper operation and maintenance of all

valves

, including sluice valves, butterfly valves, non-return valves, air valves, and pressure relief systems, and monitor the condition of pipelines and fittings to prevent leakages and mechanical failures.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer shall coordinate closely with the electrical team for synchronized operation of motors, starters, MCC panels, control systems, and interlocks. Any mechanical issues arising due to electrical faults, voltage fluctuations, or power quality issues shall be identified and resolved through effective coordination.

He shall supervise and manage site manpower including mechanical fitters, helpers, pump operators, and technicians. He shall prepare duty rosters, guide maintenance activities, ensure availability of tools and tackles, and maintain high standards of workmanship, discipline, and productivity at site.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer shall be responsible for

preparation and submission of Daily Site Reports, discharge monitoring reports, breakdown reports, and Monthly Performance Reports

, including pump performance data, downtime analysis, energy consumption correlation, and corrective actions taken. All reports shall be prepared accurately and submitted within prescribed timelines.

Ensuring

safety and statutory compliance

shall be a critical responsibility. The Senior Mechanical Engineer shall enforce use of PPE, follow safe work practices, implement lockout-tagout procedures, and ensure compliance with all safety norms applicable to mechanical equipment and water supply infrastructure.

He shall coordinate with officials of

FMDA and other concerned municipal departments

, attend site inspections and review meetings, and ensure that all mechanical O&M activities are executed in line with contractual terms, technical specifications, and departmental instructions.
