Duties & Responsibilities:

Testing Operations

Lead and manage electrical test laboratory activities, product testing including routine, type, FAT, and special tests upto 400 kV Class. Ensure applicable national and international standards and customer specifications Oversee the operation, calibration, and maintenance of all high-voltage and test lab equipment. Plan and schedule testing activities to meet production and dispatch timelines. Lead investigations related to TBR, critical customer complaints & prepare a detailed summary report. Stay updated with Industry Standards & integrate them into production process.

Team & Lab Management

Mentor the testing team including engineers, technicians, and operators for meeting objectives and customer satisfaction. Ensure strict adherence to test protocols, safety procedures, and documentation standards. Upgrade lab in line with requirements as per standard, customer demand or for reliability testing etc. Study and analyze present test lab facilities & prepare proposal for Capex approval. Recruit right manpower with support of HR department. Establish High Performance standards by team & ensure their achievements.

Customer & Compliance Interface

Coordinate customer witness testing and third-party inspections are completed as per plan. Ensure compliance with QMS (ISO & NABL) and other statutory and regulatory standards. Conduct regular reviews to ensure compliance for documentation, audits, certifications, and product approvals. Act as primary point of contact for customers for audits, inspections & quality related queries at national & international level. Visit customer sites as & when required. Review & closure of customer complaints.

Root Cause Analysis & Technical Support

Understand & Guide for analysis of test failures (TBR), validation of design changes, and provide feedback to Design and R&D. Work closely with Production, Quality, E&D and Sales teams for defect prevention and continuous improvement. Support and ensure product testing during new product development and pilot runs Implement best practices related to Electrical Lab activities.

Reporting & Systems

Ensure all testing records, logs, and reports with traceability and audit readiness all the times. Monitor and report KPIs such as test lead times, pass/fail rates, and re-test frequencies Recommend process improvements based on test data analysis and customer feedback

Skills and Competencies:

In-depth knowledge of high-voltage product testing and transformer bushing standards (IS/IEC) Hands-on experience with electrical testing (partial discharge measurement & analysis, Tan delta measurement, etc.) Strong understanding of electrical safety protocols and testing best practices Proficiency in technical documentation, customer interaction, and lab management Leadership, team management, and cross-functional coordination skills Should be able to prepare skill matrix for the team & provide appropriate trainings. Implement quality improvement activities such as Lean, 6 Sigma , TQM , TPM & identify the opportunities for process optimization to reduce defects.

Qualifications & Experience:

Educational Qualification:

B.E. / B.Tech/M.E in Electrical Engineering

Experience:

Minimum 15 years of experience in product testing and validation in an electrical manufacturing environment Preferred exposure to transformer bushings, insulators, or high-voltage electrical equipment or Switchgear Industry.
