Job Role

The role holder will be a part of the new stress testing hub created in Bangalore.

Enterprise stress testing comprises the stress tests required by the Group, regions, country and risk management teams, and other senior stakeholders as required to inform Risk Appetite and the stress tests required by the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s regulators.

The team has responsibility for the execution of the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s stress test exercises internally and to external regulators. It is also the centre of excellence for all strategic changes and operational controls, compliance attestation and policy setting for stress testing in the enterprise. As such, this individual will be working as part of a cohesive \xe2\x80\x9cstrategy and execution\xe2\x80\x9d function. The team sets and runs the production schedule for stress testing.

The intent of the hub is to primarily run central workstream production tasks and sub-tasks during the running of each stress test exercise utilising ITO (Group IT) supported technology and produce management reporting on the same.

This is a new role to ensure submission of unstructured templates for Group.

Enterprise stress testing comprises the stress tests required by the Prudential Regulation Authority (ICAAP stress test, Bank of England\xe2\x80\x99s annual concurrent stress test, Recovery Plan stress test and Reverse stress test) and the stress tests required by the management and Board to inform Risk Appetite. Country stress tests are performed for regulators like the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) and Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).

The role would require technical knowledge of data systems, coding in SAS and the Bank of England\xe2\x80\x99s Stress Test Data Framework.

The role reports to the Vice President, Stress Test Data Quality and sits within the Enterprise Stress Testing team in Financial Planning and Analysis, which drives all enterprise stress testing initiatives in collaboration with teams across the Risk Function and in Group Finance, Group Treasury and the business.

The successful candidate for this position will play a key role in supporting the development, maintenance, enhancement and execution of the stress test models in relation to the Balance Sheet, Profit and Loss and Tax Requirements in the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s stress test exercises globally.

Key Responsibilities

The role holder will ensure the integrity of stress test data and submit unstructured and structured templates.

Specifically, the key responsibilities would include

  • Ensure that the validation and reconciliation of stress test data meets all regulatory requirements.
  • Establish and maintain a data ownership and governance framework for the stress test data templates.
  • Identify gaps in data quality and collaborate with various stakeholders to resolve them.
  • Business problem analysis and cross functional collaborative tech solution design.
  • Tableau / Power BI dashboard preparation and knowledge of Dataiku.
  • Incorporation of Data Quality and Data Management rules in the system itself with help of EST Data Quality team.
  • Documentation of overall development work.
Processes
  • Knowledge of creating reports from different data sources in Cloud.

Our Ideal Candidate
  • Detailed knowledge of and direct experience in assuring stress test data integrity - Bank of England or CCAR. Knowledge of the Bank of England\xe2\x80\x99s Stress Test Data Framework is required.
  • Prior experience of conducting a capital stress test involving projections of asset, income, impairments or any other key metric.
  • Direct experience in SAS programming and macro-programming on excel using VBA. Knowledge of MS SQL, MS Access, Axiom will be considered a plus.
  • Able to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements to produce prompt, reliable information to management for decision-making purposes.
  • Confident self-motivated person with a high level of drive and ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders.
  • Working Knowledge on Finance / Risk Reporting and Dashboard development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong creativity and problem-solving abilities.
