What you'll do
The DocuSign AI team is building the future of the Smart Agreement Cloud by developing cutting-edge machine learning solutions. We leverage vast amounts of text and image data, along with advanced computer vision and natural language models, to deliver industry-leading Document AI products. Our goal is to simplify and optimize contract negotiation, execution, and post-signature analysis for customers worldwide. We're seeking a passionate engineering leader to build out the core machine learning platform and infrastructure, supporting the entire ML lifecycle from research to scalable deployment. This position is an individual contributor role reporting to the Director of Machine Learning Engineering.
Responsibility

• Be the Engineering leader responsible for executing on our product roadmap using agile practices and will champion the culture, processes, and tools required to maintain a frictionless high quality development environment
• Design distributed systems at scale with enterprise-grade security and reliability
• Drive testing, releases, and monitoring of machine learning based products
• Enable team productivity through correct processes, automation, and reviews to enforce high quality and maintainable code across the platform
• Collaborate with Applied Science and Product teams to establish requirements and timelines for successful product delivery
• Work collaboratively across different time zones and geographies
• Develop highly scalable and reliable machine learning infrastructure that can support efficient model inference, training, and data telemetry collection
• Build vital tools and infrastructure to monitor and understand the performance of complex systems

Job Designation
Hybrid: Employee divides their time between in-office and remote work. Access to an office location is required. (Frequency: Minimum 2 days per week; may vary by team but will be weekly in-office expectation)

What you bring
Basic

• 12+ years of combined software development and management experience across at least 3 languages or paradigms, and frameworks or equivalent experience
• 8+ years of hands on software development or equivalent experience
• Experience designing/building/consuming RESTful and gRPC based web-services
• Experience with CI/CD build pipelines, integration testing, unit testing, and test-driven development
• Experience with highly scalable, high-volume distributed systems and services with top- tier resiliency, availability, and performance

Preferred

• Familiarity with cloud deployment technologies, such as Kubernetes or Docker containers
• Strong people management skills, including coaching, mentoring, and leading technical teams
• Experience building machine learning products, data pipelines, or machine learning training and deployment systems
• Experience with deployment and monitoring of machine learning models
• Ability and desire to move across technology stacks fluently and easily
