The HOD - Maintenance Cell is responsible for the strategic leadership, planning, and execution of all maintenance activities in a solar manufacturing facility. This includes ensuring the reliability and efficiency of equipment, utilities, and infrastructure to support uninterrupted production. The role requires a balance of technical knowledge, people management, and operational planning.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic & Operational Leadership:
Develop and implement maintenance strategies aligned with plant objectives.
Lead predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance programs.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives in equipment uptime and efficiency.
2. Team Management:
Lead, train, and mentor a multidisciplinary maintenance team (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, etc.).
Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental standards.
3. Equipment & Asset Management:
Oversee maintenance of critical equipment like solar cell/module manufacturing lines, laminators, screen printers, furnaces, stringers, etc.
Manage spare parts inventory and procurement strategies.
Plan and execute equipment upgrades, refurbishments, or replacements.
4. Compliance & Documentation:
Maintain documentation as per ISO, OHSAS, and other regulatory requirements.
Ensure statutory compliance related to equipment, safety, and utilities.
5. Budget & Cost Control:
Prepare and monitor maintenance budgets.
Optimize maintenance costs without compromising equipment reliability.
6. Vendor & Contractor Management:
Manage relationships with OEMs, service providers, and contractors.
Evaluate and onboard new service partners as needed.
7. Cross-functional Coordination:
Collaborate with production, quality, R&D, and EHS teams to achieve plant goals.
Key Skills and Competencies:
Strong knowledge of solar cell/module production equipment and processes.
Expertise in TPM, RCA, FMEA, and other maintenance tools.
Hands-on experience with PLCs, automation, HVAC, and utilities.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Good communication, planning, and decision-making abilities.
Qualifications:
B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical/Electrical/Instrumentation Engineering.
10-15 years of maintenance experience in manufacturing; minimum 5 years in a leadership role.
Experience in solar/semiconductor/electronics manufacturing is highly preferred.
Preferred Certifications:
Six Sigma / Lean Manufacturing
ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 / OHSAS 18001
