Role:
The Senior Manager - Legal will play a critical role in strategizing, structuring, and executing the legal framework to support business expansion. This position requires a proactive leader who can remove legal bottlenecks, mitigate risks, and establish robust legal processes and compliance mechanisms. The role is crucial in scaling the legal function from the ground up, especially as the company expands and establishes a presence in the manufacturing domain.
Responsibilities:Provide legal guidance to business leaders on strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with corporate goals.
Identify and mitigate potential legal risks associated with business operations, contracts, and expansion.
Drive compliance with national and international laws as the business scales including applicable customs regulations and taxation laws.
Oversee the drafting, review, and negotiation of commercial contracts, NDAs, vendor agreements, and partnership deals.
Develop standard templates and processes to streamline contract management.
Establish and enforce legal policies, processes, and best practices for the organization.
Ensure adherence to corporate governance principles, data protection laws, and industry regulations.
Liaise with regulatory authorities, external counsel, and legal consultants as needed.
Work with external legal advisors to resolve matters effectively while minimizing risks.
Develop preemptive legal strategies to prevent disputes and ensure smooth business operations.
Provide legal guidance on global expansion, foreign entity setup, and cross-border transactions.
Oversee intellectual property (IP) protection, trademarks, and patents to safeguard company assets.
Ensure compliance with GDPR, data privacy laws, and trade regulations in international markets.
Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing legal team, ensuring they provide agile and business-friendly legal support.
Foster a legal culture that balances risk management with business enablement.
Skills & Competencies:LLB from a recognized institution in India.
5-7 years of experience in corporate legal, with at least 2 years in a leadership/independent client handling role within a firm or in-house.
Exposure to customs and taxation laws, international business laws, M&A, and data privacy regulations is preferred.
Strong preference for high-growth startup experience.
Previous start-up/manufacturing sector experience will give you an edge.
Expertise in Contract Law, Companies Act, Labour Laws, Business Compliances.
Master of multitasking and delivering on tight deadlines.
Well-versed in how the business operates with financial acumen.
Strategic mindset with the ability to balance risk and business growth.
Strong negotiation, communication, drafting and stakeholder management skills.
Hands-on experience in handling high-stakes legal matters.
Proficiency in legal tech tools and contract management software.
Ability to work in high-paced, evolving environments.
