Job Overview
Role: Sr. Consultant - Platform Engineer
Location: Mumbai, Hybrid
We have an exciting opportunity to join the Platform team to advance the Infrastructure and CICD operation toward scalable and cloud ready vision through automation, DevOps and Infrastructure as Code.
Role Responsibilities
Collaborate with Engineering, Operations & Security Teams and provide solutions that improve productivity & security.
Develop, implement and maintain Infrastructure using IaC tools such as Terraform, Cloud Formation or similar.
Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks and roles for configuration management and deployments, ensuring they are up-to-date and reusable.
Conduct regular audits of configuration management practices to ensure compliance with security and operational standards.
Automate repetitive tasks and processes to reduce manual effort and increase consistency.
Implement and manage authentication protocols and systems (OAuth, LDAP) etc.
Troubleshooting common issues related to basic Active Directory issues.
Drive continuous improvement in the Platform space by adopting the right technologies to support applications, in areas such as monitoring, operational task automation, continuous integration, deployments and performance tuning.
Investigate and resolve complex and multi-faceted issues, spanning the entire technology stack, which require working across teams and technology boundaries.
Drive initiatives in the Platform area, work on upgrades, obsolescence projects etc.
Deep understanding of security best practices for managing on-prem infrastructure within a GitOps framework, including access control, network security, and secrets management.
Design and implement scalable and highly available storage solutions, considering factors like performance, capacity, and cost.
Implement comprehensive monitoring and alerting systems to ensure high availability and performance
Must - have technical skills and experience
Proven experience in Platform administration(RHEL preferred).
Good experience in GCP and Infrastructure as a code tool like Terraform, Salt, Ansible, designing cloud solutions etc.
Deep understanding of IAM principles including access control models (RBAC), identity federation, single sign-on (SSO), and least privilege principles.
Knowhow of automating infrastructure provisioning and management using Ansible/Salt.
Should have Worked on tools like Terraform, Ansible, containers in a production environment for large scale data-intensive systems.
Good knowledge on Linux and/or Windows Administration and troubleshooting.
Strong experience with automation tools and scripting languages like Python.
Experience with authentication protocols and systems (e.g. OAuth, SAML, LDAP) & Kerberos Authentication.
Proven experience working in agile environments, participating & driving sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and other agile ceremonies.
Proficiency in at least one major public cloud platform (AWS, Azure, GCP ) including a deep understanding of their services and capabilities.
Strong skills in Infrastructure as Code using tools like Terraform to manage and automate infrastructure provisioning.
Experience on CI/CD pipelines using technologies like, Jenkins, Artifactory, Vault, GitHub Actions.
Familiarity with container ecosystem/technologies, such as, Kubernetes.
In-depth knowledge of Ansible for configuration management.
Experience working in Agile teams.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Experience on using AI to optimize storage strategies, maximizing efficiency.
Design data pipelines for collecting, processing, and analysing infrastructure data
Experience on PowerShell Workflow Automation
Demonstrated experience implementing and managing GitOps workflows, particularly in complex or hybrid environments with experience with tools like Argo CD, Flux, or similar.
Experience with various storage technologies (e.g., SAN, NAS, cloud storage) is beneficial. Specify relevant technologies used in your organization (e.g., NetApp).
Experience with container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes, Docker Swarm, or others.
Experience with network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP)
Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog)

3) What is State File Locking?
Answer: State file locking is a Terraform mechanism that prevents operations on a specific state file from being performed by multiple users at the same time. Once the lock from one user is released, any other user who has taken a lock on that state file can operate on it.
4) What is Ansible Inventory and its types?
Static inventory file is a list of managed hosts declared under a host group using either hostnames or IP addresses in a plain text file.
Dynamic inventory is generated by a script written in Python or any other programming language or by using plugins(preferable)
5) What are the different components of Kubernetes Architecture
Master node and Worker node. The master node has the kube-controller-manager, kube-apiserver, kube-scheduler, etcd. Whereas the worker node has kubelet and kube-proxy running on each node.
