The GIC Supply Chain team manages end-to-end operations, encompassing planning, sourcing, manufacturing, logistics, and analytics. They strategically plan to meet market demands, optimize sourcing, ensure efficient production, and oversee the seamless movement of goods from production to delivery. The team employs advanced analytics throughout these processes, fostering adaptability and operational excellence. Purpose of the role
The purpose of this role is to leverage Controls Engineering expertise to virtually lead initiatives and solutions aimed at assessing, solving, and improving manufacturing plant productivity and optimizing costs. This requires strong functional knowledge in plant engineering and effective customer relationship skills.
Key Accountabilities
Controls Systems Engineering:
Drive productivity (system utilization), reduce manual effort, production waste and manufacturing cost through strategic use of controls technology
Develop global GMI Controls Systems solutions to meet the emerging business needs by leveraging plant process automation technology (viz. Wonderware Archestra, Siemens, Rockwell)
Identify operational, quality, system performance opportunities and then recommend / execute controls standard solutions and verify results
Share learning's across the CE/CIS Community
Serve as corporate wide resource
Provide tactical and strategic operation support to plants in controls and information systems
Manage control system architecture
Optimize controls infrastructure to Support Business Needs
Ensure control systems reliability
Software / Hardware up to date
Manage Obsolescence
Educate plant Engineers and technicians on leveraging GMI Global Controls Engineering standards
Technical Problem Solving:
Analyze cost and performance data, diagnose root cause of manufacturing losses and make recommendations to improve system, equipment and material requirements by leveraging existing and emerging control system technology and methodologies
Understand and leverage reliability metrics, system planning and cost tracking systems
Collaborate with the plants and central engineering teams for diagnosis, solution design and creating recommendation
Perform as a Subject Matter Expert:
Coach and mentor other engineers on the team as well as plant employees
Work effectively in a cross-cultural virtual team using influence and collaboration
Create, maintain and adhere to process documentation and strive for continuous improvement
Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in engineering in anyone: Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunication
Any relevant Certification in Control Engineering
Experience:
Related Experience: 5-8 years
Specific skills requirement:
Demonstrated experience in Controls and Systems Engineering domain on the Shop Floor - Automation experience in the areas of PLCs (Rockwell /Siemens), SCADA (Aveva Wonderware/Ignition), and Historian configuration
Familiarity with common field devices and instruments (VFDs, load cells, control valves, level, pressure, temperature, flow, and position sensors)
Understanding of network architecture and various industrial communication technologies and topologies, including Ethernet, ControlNet, Device Net, and experience with remote I/O
Experienced in OT related data and communications (Wonderware system platforms, Modbus, OPC UA, MQTT)
Knowledge in IT Systems (Servers, Windows Operating Systems, Terminal Services, Virtualization, Cloud solutions)
Understanding of manufacturing industry standards (ISA S88 S95) and Familiarity with a relevant and globally supported framework
Ability to navigate through changes and uncertainty with professionalism.
The willingness and experience to work hands-on is most important for this role.
Demonstrated ability to motivate and innovate, excellent team building and leadership skills.
Able to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels.
