An electrician in a ferro alloys plant is responsible for the electrical maintenance and repair of all equipment, including furnaces, ancillary units, and machinery. They also handle routine maintenance, new installations, and troubleshooting electrical issues, ensuring safety compliance. This role often involves working with high-voltage and low-voltage systems, as well as PLCs, SCADAs, and control panels.
Electrical Maintenance:
Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical equipment, including furnaces, motors, and control systems.
Troubleshooting and Repair:
Identify and resolve electrical faults in various equipment, including motors, switches, and control panels.
New Installations:
Assist with the installation and commissioning of new electrical systems and equipment.
Safety Compliance:
Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures related to electrical equipment and processes, ensuring a safe working environment.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of maintenance schedules, electrical system designs, and operational procedures.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with other maintenance staff, providing guidance and support to junior electricians.
Shift Schedules:
Create and manage shift schedules for maintenance staff, ensuring proper manpower deployment.
Material Procurement:
Assist with the procurement and storage of maintenance equipment and materials.
Skills and Qualifications:
Education:
ITI/NCVT certification in Electrical Trade or equivalent.
Experience:
2+ years of experience in electrical maintenance, preferably in a ferro alloys plant.
Knowledge:
Understanding of PLC, SCADA, and control panel systems, as well as high-voltage and low-voltage motors and MCVs.
Troubleshooting:
Strong ability to diagnose and resolve electrical problems.
Safety:
Knowledge of electrical safety regulations and procedures.
Teamwork:
Ability to work effectively with other maintenance staff.
Documentation:
Ability to maintain accurate records of maintenance activities.
Performs preventive maintenance as scheduled or required on electrical equipment as recommended by the manufacturer and on site safety programs
Ensures all work meets prescribed standards of quality and ensures compliance with all laws, safety procedures, policies and codes
Inspects electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes
