: Senior Design Engineer - Wood / Furniture Industry Position Overview:

The Senior Design Engineer is responsible for leading the design, development, and engineering of wooden furniture, fixtures, and interior elements. The role involves creating detailed technical drawings, ensuring manufacturability, coordinating with production teams, and delivering high-quality, cost-effective design solutions.

Key Responsibilities1. Design & Development

Develop innovative and functional furniture designs based on client requirements and industry trends. Prepare detailed 2D and 3D designs using

AutoCAD, SolidWorks, SketchUp, or other relevant software

. Create assembly drawings, part drawings, cutting lists, and BOM (Bill of Materials). Ensure designs meet ergonomic, structural, and aesthetic standards.

2. Technical Documentation

Generate production-ready drawings and technical specifications. Prepare material specifications, joinery details, hardware lists, and finish schedules. Ensure proper version control and documentation of all design files.

3. Coordination & Communication

Work closely with the production, procurement, and project teams to explain design intent. Conduct design reviews with clients, architects, and project teams. Provide technical guidance to junior designers and draftsmen.

4. Manufacturing Support

Ensure all designs are feasible for manufacturing using available machinery (CNC, panel saw, edge banding, laminating, etc.). Resolve design-related issues during production and installation. Optimize designs for cost, material efficiency, and ease of assembly.

5. Quality & Standards

Ensure adherence to company design standards, safety guidelines, and material quality benchmarks. Conduct site measurements and verify design accuracy when required. Review prototypes and first samples for approval.

Skills & RequirementsTechnical Skills

Proficiency in

AutoCAD, SolidWorks, SketchUp, Revit, or similar design tools

. Strong knowledge of woodworking materials (plywood, MDF, veneer, laminates, solid wood). Understanding of joinery techniques, hardware systems, and modular furniture. Ability to prepare detailed BOMs, cutting plans, and assembly instructions.

Experience

5-8 years

of experience in furniture design or wood industry engineering. Experience in commercial, residential, or modular furniture projects is preferred.

Soft Skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Good communication and leadership ability. Ability to manage multiple design projects and meet deadlines.

Education

Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Furniture Technology, Interior Design, or related fields.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Design accuracy and quality. Timely completion of drawings. Material optimization & cost control. Reduction in production errors due to design issues. Customer satisfaction with design output.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹45,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
